Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We had a thrilling morning at Lydd Primary, the long-awaited visit of Montell Douglas - the ONLY British female athlete to have represented GB&NI in both the Summer and Winter Olympics - happened on 19th July.
Montell lead an assembly in which she discussed her triumphs, personal sacrifices, resilience, dealing with adversity, and perseverance.
We saw footage of her Commonwealth Games gold medal race (2010, Delhi in the 4x100 metre relay) and her bobsleigh successes too.
Montell then lead four 1-minute activities for every child from Reception to Year 6 to participate in. We sensibly factored in water breaks, extended rests between events and ventilated the hall, cooling it appropriately too.
What a privilege to be visited by such a brilliant ambassador for sport and all its positive values!
And a BIG thank you to Mr Southgate for arranging such a great event!!
Here are some of the Nursery children enjoying a lolly and water play to keep cool this morning!
Year 5 having a 'splashing' time this morning!!
Angela Shone, from the Kent School Health Team, came to present our school with the Kent School Award for Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing at Merit Assembly.
The Award is the result of an 18-month project to improve our school approach to emotional wellbeing and resilience. This includes the work carried out by our wonderful School Council and Behaviour Ambassadors and builds on the principles of the new PSHE scheme we launched this year. It is the result of a lot of hard work by staff, children and parents.
Angela presented the Award during Merit Assembly and she was blown away by all the wonderful achievements the school, young people and their community have made.
The Award will be placed in the school reception area for everyone to admire!
